Questions
- Can I do this on my own?
Many families want to escort a loved on their own, but this can endanger the patient. Air Escort medical crews are trained in altitude physiology and know how to respond to patients affected by oxygen deprivation, fluid intake and flight sickness.
- Is flying commercial right for me or my family member?
Most patients who can sit for certain periods of time can tolerate a commercial flight without any problems. We will fully screen your family member to assure that travel with Air Escort is medically appropriate. Our first-class seating also provide more room for patients to lie down comfortably.
- How is Air Escort different from air ambulances or brokers?
Many patients do not require the level of care provided by expensive private air ambulances. And air ambulance brokers simply coordinate travel and do NOT have medically trained employees on board with your loved one. Air Escort provides complete medical screening, travel logistics and medical care in transit.
- How much does it cost?
Costs vary due to fluctuations in airline prices and other costs incurred. In every case, however, Air Escort is more cost-effective than air ambulance. In many non-emergency cases, we can plan ahead and curb costs by booking flights in advance.
- Do insurance companies pay for your service?
Many times travel insurance companies will cover the cost of transporting a person, however, please check with your insurance provider for complete details. Some health care insurers will pay in part for air escort services, but again, contact the insurance company to verify its plan.
- How fast can you get to our patient or family member?
Air Escort staff are located close to several major airports and on call 24 hours a day. Usually our staff can get to a patient within 24-48 hours.
- Can you arrange all transportation?
Yes. Air Escort can arrange all necessary transportation in the United States and abroad.
- Can you help us transport an undocumented patient?
Yes. We work with many hospitals overseas, as well as embassies and consulates to arrange for the speedy and safe return of citizens to their home country. Once we have agreed to transport and quotes are accepted, we will assist you in arranging receiving facilities in foreign countries.
- How are your staff medical skills reviewed?
Unlike many air ambulances, we have an onsite medical director who constantly reviews medical crew members’ skills and competencies to assure that care is at the highest level.
- How can I get a quote?
You may complete our form online, or contact Air Escort at 1-877-400-0463 to discuss your case with our flight coordinators. Accurate and complete information are key in providing a quote for services.
